Episode 13
13th episode begins with new single by Purple Disco Machine, aka Tino Pionek, which teams up with DJ & producer Bosq to create an all encompassing fiery piece of modern disco excellence. ‘Wake Up!’ features slick basselines, varied Afro-Latin percussion, energetic horns, to create a heavenly slice of soulful disco house. Further joining the duo is singer Kaleta, whose vocals instantly invoke feelings of joy and celebration.
Grooving around some afro-house, hip-hop, contemporary jazz, soul, electronic jazz fusion, pop, and a pinch of dub, must be highlighted the return of Gerardo Frisina, italian producer, which has been one of the most avant-garde musicians to successfully blend jazz, house, and Afro-Latin rhythms. Frisina new EP, titled Soul Drum, marks his first release in two years.
The show ends with a never-before-released version of Brazilian icon Joyce Moreno‘s 1977 classic groundbreaking “Feminina”. Produced by the great Claus Ogerman, who has worked with everyone from Sinatra, Jobim, Billie Holiday, and more, for an as yet unreleased Natureza album. At the time this recording was coming together, the thought was this would be Joyce’s big international breakthrough release, however was unfortunately shelved.
